Book Review

"Everything Everythng" by Nicola Yoon
Book Review

" Live life in a bubble...
  Or risk everything for love?
my disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I'm allrgic to the world. I don't leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean, and wearing all black- black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me.
I stare back. His name is Olly.
Maybe we can't predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I, Maddy, am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It's almost certainly going to be a disaster."
🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼🌼

I have so many things to say about the story, too much, so I'm gonna start with the first thing you see when you recieve the book, its cover.
I know, I know, it's the least important thing in the book (or should I say, "Outside" the book).
But, we should really respect the amazing art in this flawless book. The illustrations inside are beautiful, but the cover outside is what caught my eyes in the first place. (by the way, David Yoon, her husbend, is the one who draw the illustrations.)  I wasn't really searching for this specific book when suddenly I saw a recommendation on it in Amazon. I saw the cover, and I instantly knew that I will fall in love with this book. Like Maddy and Olly, but we will talk about that later.

The next stop on my review bus is- maddy's character.
I really loved Maddy, she's smart, innocent, good girl and a very strong young-adult.
She understand and acknowledge her difficult situation without even comlaining about it. She managed to eccept her path and move along with it, knowing she will never be able to see and experience the world. She's also very courios, a very good feature to have.

There is something about this book that makes me want more. the writing, the content, the story, it's all too fabulous. The writing is easy and light. The chapters are short and every sentence has a 'cause.
There's a lot of interesting content as well like emails, massages, spoiler reviews by Maddy, guides and etc. The book is very philosophical and light at the same time, which is crazy! I've never read a book so easy to read yet deals with so difficult issues.

And can we please talk about the ralationship of Maddy and her mother? They're Soooo close and like..... aahhhhh.
I wish I had this kind of ralathionship with my mother.
And Olly is literally the perfect teenage guy, he's handsome, smart, kind, sometimes adultscene yet always finds a way to be childish. Anddd.... He loves Maddy so much, thats so cute. He was willing to do anything that he can and cannot for her, and always respected her decisions and requests.
the story will make you feel. feel anger. feel happiness. feel despair. feel fear. feel it all.
Feel everything. everything.

(saw what I did there? Ha πŸ˜‚)

And now, my favorite part of this book review, it's time to my fave quotes:
  • "Wanting just leads to more wanting. there's no end to desire." (p. 83)
  • "Love can't kill you." (p. 94)
  • "He says your world can change in a single moment." (p. 106)
  • "The less he seemed to love them, the more they wanted to be loved" (p. 108)
  • "The greatest risk is not taking one" (from the cover)
  • "Boys come & go, but mothers are forever" (p. 113)
  • "In the beginning there was nothing. And then there was anything." (p. 227)
  • "You learned your lesson the hard way. Some things you just have to experience for yourself." (p. 253)
  • "I don't want conforting or protecting. I just want the truth." (p. 270)
  • "The world isn't going anywhere." (p. 283)
  • "LOVE is worth EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING." (p. 302)

Last but deffinetly not least- the author herself!

Nicola Yoon grew up in Jamaica (the island) and Brooklyn (part of Long Island). She currently resides in Los Angeles, CA with her husband and daughter, both of whom she loves beyond all reason. "Everything, Everything" is her first novel, which became a major motion picture!

The book is also a #1 NEY YORK TIMES bestseller!

To conclude, I really recommend this book for teenagers (14-15 years old and plus). This book is flawless, light yet interesting, a very good quick read (and by "quick" I mean that I finished the book less than three-two days). It's a very good summer read and I really hope you'll enjoy it as me,

Happy Reading!πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ŠπŸ’—
